Name the material and the storage location
Describe the affected garment, rug or upholstered item, how it is stored and whether insects or shed material are present. Keep a note of other affected items. Fabric damage alone does not name the pest or show how widely the concern extends.
Ask what needs checking before clearing storage
Explain whether the items are in a wardrobe, storage box, loft or occupied room. Ask for preparation instructions before moving large quantities of belongings. The proposal should make clear which storage areas and materials are included.
Should all textiles be thrown away?
Do not assume that disposal is required. Ask for item-specific advice after identification and clarify what cleaning or treatment is proposed.
