Visible damage needs a closer look
Note changes in wood, mud tubes or discarded wings without opening walls or disturbing structural material. Mention moisture issues and whether the evidence is new. A photograph can document a change, but it does not establish the extent of hidden damage.
Keep inspection and treatment scope clear
Ask which areas can be accessed, how findings will be explained and what any proposed treatment covers. Repairs, warranties and future monitoring should be spelled out if offered. Do not assume they are included in an initial quote.
Can winged ants look like termites?
Yes. Ants and termite swarmers differ in their antennae, waist and wing proportions. If unsure, describe the sighting and request identification before selecting the work.
